IET Guide to Electrical Safety Management in the Water Sector
This guide seeks to establish a common approach to electrical safety management and compliance in the water sector. It should be used and integrated into an organization’s overall management systems in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to further aid the development of electrical safety management procedures, ensuring that electrical-related works are undertaken in a safe and controlled manner.
Key aims and objectives of the publication are to:
- Ensure safe control of electricity to prevent harm or damage
- Prevent uncontrolled release of electrical energy
- Assist with alignment of training requirements
- Provide guidance on how to develop a robust electrical safety management system in the water sector
- Ensure co-ordination and collaboration with the supply chain and third parties across all electrical working boundaries and demarcation of electrical systems
- Offer an insight into the specific hazards and procedures associated with the water sector.
