IET Wiring Regulation 17th Edition City & Guilds 2391 and Inspection and testing.

The person must have common sense, colour coordination, and not be afraid of hard work.
Are there any challenges involved that people should be aware of – late nights etc?
It is the nature of the job that you may have a call out in the middle of the night, if the customer has no electricity, or if there is an emergency.

I found I can meet all sorts of the people and other tradesmen, and all the banter.
What advice would you give to those who are embarking upon their electrotechnical careers?
Once you have decided, you have to stay with it. It is not easy working during the day and studying in the evening, but it is worth it, this is a skill you will take with you for the rest of your life.
Are there any skill gaps at the moment, which more young electricians should aim to fill?
The skills you learn in this line of work are the kind of skills you will use in your lifetime, no matter what country you are in.
