IET Electrician’s Guide to Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation
The purpose of this guide is to provide the information required for domestic electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. This includes: the modes and types of equipment, relevant regulations, system design issues, methods of protection, and an overview of the certification and documentation required.
Key aims and objectives of this publication are to:
- Provide an overview of the various EV charging modes and types of equipment
- Summarise the regulatory requirements in this area and the key sources of information
- Assist with the general assessment required prior to designing and installing a system
- Detail methods of electrical protection and earthing
- Cover the areas of private domestic and small commercial installation design – including control devices, circuit design and cabling
- Outline certification and documentation requirements
